With his unique, strength-based approach to treating ADHD, Ned has essentially redefined the condition, and its prognosis, for millions of children, teens and adults –along with the parents, teachers, spouses and colleagues who interact with them on a daily basis. Dr. Hallowell, who was himself diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 31, believes the condition is often misunderstood and, consequently, mismanaged. His mission, and the mission of all the Hallowell ADHD Centers, is to educate patients, along with the general public, about how the ADHD brain works and to change the way the world sees brain differences.

A highly experienced social worker of 35 years, Sue uses psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and mindfulness training in her work. Sue has a special expertise in working with couples, especially where ADHD is an issue. She also does a significant amount of work with parents whose children are struggling with attention issues or other mental health concerns, as well as college students and adults.
Sue’s previous positions include Director of Inpatient Social Work at Massachusetts Mental Health Center and Associate Professor at Simmons Graduate School of Social Work (adjunct). She graduated from the University of Virginia and Boston College Graduate School of Social Work.
Sue is married to Ned Hallowell and co-authored Married To Distraction with him. Together they have appeared on numerous TV and radio shows to discuss relationships and ADHD, and Sue often presents at conferences on her successful model of support and therapy for couples.

Carey has spent much of her clinical experience working with adult clients with substance use disorders as well as working with performing artists in private practice. She discovered her passion for counseling through her first career in the performing arts.
Carey received her MSEd in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY/Hunter College and was clinically trained at The Mount Sinai Hospital as a Mental Health Counselor working in their Partial Hospitalization Program. Carey’s approach is influenced by her continuing education in Positive Psychology, mindfulness training and person-centered counseling.

Jen received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Columbia University, where she graduated as valedictorian of her college class. She received her coaching certification from NYU. Earlier in her career, Jen worked in the film and television industry in news, documentary, and entertainment production for NY1, PBS, ABC, NBC, and HBO. Jen’s work as a personal coach has been featured in The New York Times, The Financial Times, Time Out New York, Forbes, and on The Today Show.

Ned started his professional career in special education, working primarily with intellectually curious students who benefited from a holistic and varied approach in the classroom to meet their exceptional potential. While doing this work he developed a passion for supporting people with various learning differences. Ned has an intuitive understanding of the challenges people with ADHD face in both the academic and professional realm, having ADHD himself. Ned is a graduate of Tulane University, and he received his Masters in Clinical Social Work at Simmons College in Boston in 2009.

Susan received her doctorate from Boston University and did post-doctoral training at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton, working with their inpatient evaluation team and providing therapy to children and families. She is also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She has worked in area hospitals including Franciscan Children’s and North Shore Medical Center. Her book, No Parent Left Behind: Navigating the Special Education Universe was written to help parents understand their children’s needs, and provide a roadmap to help them get the necessary services to make school work for their children from first worries to success in life.

Matt has clinical experience working at inpatient behavioral health units, most recently at Columbia Medical Center. She is co-founder of Archway, an organization of professionals who investigate and collaborate on issues of adoption and related studies.
Besides her affiliation with the Hallowell Center, Linda is on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and has a private practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Linda is a graduate of Oberlin College, Columbia University School of General Studies, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Erica Frankel studied psychology at Emory University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010. Following undergraduate school, Erica worked as a research fellow at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in the Mental Health Institute (NIMH). Erica previously worked in the Experimental Therapeutics Pathophysiology lab researching new anti-depressant medications for adults with treatment resistant depression and bipolar disorder. Alison uses evidence-based treatments to help clients achieve measurable change. When treating adult ADHD, Alison works with clients to improve executive functioning while building on their intrinsic strengths to address the emotional manifestations of ADHD which are often overlooked, such as low self-esteem and shame.
Alison trained at the renowned Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and draws on other modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), positive psychology and coaching. Alison’s interest in physical health, spirituality and neuropsychology informs her work and is often incorporated into the therapeutic process.
Previously, Alison was a therapist at an employee assistance program (EAP) that provided counseling services to employees of Fortune 500 companies struggling with issues such as poor work performance and substance abuse. Alison is a graduate of Northwestern University, earned a Master’s degree in Social Work at NYU and a Post-Master’s certificate in advanced clinical practice.

From 2005-2013, Rob led the academic program at The Leelanau School as Director of Education. Guiding the school through the creation of a strengths-based experiential learning program, Rob’s vision and innovation helped put Leelanau on the map as one of the premier high schools for students with ADD, dyslexia and other learning differences. Currently, Rob is the Director of Upland Hills School, an independent K-8 day school with a primary emphasis on mastery of skills and creative growth through a strong connection to community and the natural world.

Tesi is a Board certified pediatrician with dual fellowship training in Developmental/ Behavioral Pediatrics and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has particular interests in the challenges facing adoptive families, early parent-child interaction, and parenting of children with special needs.
Tesi graduated Cum Laude from Columbia University, and received her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, and a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Massachusetts Medical Society and the New England Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Tesi is additionally an assistant professor in psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she spent eight years as one of the psychiatrists in the Child Behavior Clinic.

He received a B.S. in Psychology, with minors in Biology and Marketing in 2015, before matriculating to graduate school in 2016. He received his M.S. in clinical psychology in 2018. Shelley works collaboratively with each client or family she works with, bringing cognitive behavioral approaches together with playfulness and creativity in a warm, supportive relationship. She provides individual therapy for people of all ages, parent-child therapy, family therapy, parent coaching, and support groups for parents of children with ADHD.
Shelley received her MSW from Simmons College in 2006. Prior to joining the Hallowell Center in 2011, she worked in community mental health with a diverse population and wide range of mental health needs. This experience gave her wonderful training in the resilience and uniqueness of every human being, and she brings this strengths perspective to her work at the Hallowell Center.

Shawna is board certified in psychiatry. Shawna is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and she completed her residency training in adult general psychiatry at New York Medical College’s Manhattan site, St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Shawna continued post-doctoral training in child psychiatry and graduated from the Mount Sinai Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. She was also the recipient of a specialized fellowship in group and family psychotherapy awarded by the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society.

Rebecca has served as Chief of the Communications Disorders Department at Choate-Symmes Health Services, Chief of Speech/Language Pathology at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, and as an executive function coach at the Hallowell Center since 2003.
Her award-winning book The Zen of Listening: Mindful Communication in the Age of Distraction has been translated into several languages and is now available as an audio book sparked articles about her in the Washington Post, Boston Globe, Readers Digest, Real Simple, Family Circle and many other popular publications. She has appeared on multiple radio/TV and podcast interviews.

Her neuropsychological evaluations are treatment-focused and designed to identify neurocognitive strengths and relative weaknesses, and to determine the most appropriate ways to proceed at school, work and/or in daily living. She is also well-versed in assessments for IEP/504 Plan determination and academic and standardized test accommodations.
She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Boston University. She completed her clinical internship in adult/geriatric neuropsychology at the Boston V.A. Medical Center. Her post-doctoral fellowship was completed at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Mass Mental Health Center in Boston and involved assessing adolescents and adults for ADHD, learning disabilities, and cognitive changes associated with concussion/traumatic brain injury, neurological/medical illness (dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, brain tumors), and mood disorders.

She is currently wrapping up her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, with a quantitative specialization, from the University of Miami and predoctoral training at Weill Cornell Medicine. At Weill Cornell, Caitlin treats patients with a wide range of psychological concerns, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, OCD, hoarding and related disorders.

She completed her life coach training through an accredited program at The Institute for Life Coach Training. A lifelong learner herself, Christina is currently a doctoral student in Adult Learning & Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University.
